Aquatica: A Great Way to Cool Off on Your Orlando Vacation
If you are coming to the Orlando area on your vacation and looking for a great way to beat the summer heat, I have one word for you...Aquatica! If you haven't been in a while or have never been at all, let me give you the run down of one of my favorite parks...
First off, I would suggest arriving early. This gives you the opportunity to get your locker and you will have a nice selection of lounge chairs. Be sure to "claim" your lounge chair as soon as you arrive, later in the day you will be glad you did. Another benefit of arriving early, the lines are all very short for the water slides!
Aquatica has 7 water slides. Of course my favorite is Dolphin Plunge. What could be nicer than going down a water slide through a pool filled with dolphins? That's right, Dolphin Plunge takes you right through a pool filled with Commerson's dolphins. While you wait in line for Dolphin Plunge you have full view of the pool and are able to enjoy the dolphins as they swim and play below.
Another favorite of mine is Taumata Racer. Eight racers take position side by side and await the countdown. When you hear "go" the race is on to see who can have the fastest time to the bottom! Walhalla Wave and Hoo Roo Run are great fun water slides for the whole family as up to 4 people can ride down the slides in the same raft at one time.
Aquatica also has two "Lazy Rivers". Loggerhead Lane is traditional in that it meanders at a relaxing slow pace. Loggerhead lane also takes you through a grotto where you can enjoy beautiful cichlids and allows you to get right up to the Commerson's Dolphin Exhibit.
If you are looking for a little more action in your River experience, you will love Roa's Rapids. This is a faster, more aggressive version of the Lazy River. Roa's Rapids are filled with geysers, speed zones and center islands.
When you are ready to enjoy some waves, Aquatica gives you 2 wave pools to choose from. Cutback Cove features stronger, taller waves while Big Surf Shores has gentler rolling waves. Both wave pools share a beautiful 80,000 square foot man made white- sands beach. The beach is equipped with deck chairs, sun beds and umbrellas. It is the perfect place to relax and watch the children play.
However you like to spend your time in the sun, whether it is sliding down breath taking fast water slides or taking it easy in the Lazy River~Aquatica surely has something for everyone.
